February 2019

We were delighted to present Queer Contact 2019 at Waterside Arts which this year included work from both Mother’s Ruin’s established and regularly programmed artists as well as emerging artists fresh from last year’s Mother’s Bloomers Artist Development Programme.

Performing to a discerning and predominantly, but not exclusively, Queer audience in their main space, which included a Who’s Who of programmers, artists and movers & shakers from the North West and beyond – we were super proud and grateful to everyone who made it possible. Special thanks to all the artists; our partners Waterside, Contact and Royal Exchange; and Superbia for generously giving us a award to support the event.

The performance was followed by an workshop the following day where Artistic Directors Tim Redfern and Lisa Lee had the joy of working with several young Queer performers focusing on Approaches to Queer Work and building resilience and artistic practice.
